A mission born from experience

When we first founded Mindful Therapy Group, we had a vision of uniting like-minded mental healthcare specialists to serve the Seattle area with compassion, experience and a fresh outlook on mental wellness.

Many years and lessons later, we now serve a large, diverse group of highly-respected independent clinicians. They have collectively helped thousands of families, couples, teenagers, and children seeking to improve their lives with professional guidance.

Together, we aren’t just Co-founders and chief executives of Mindful Support Services; we’re also married and have three children. We run or walk our dog together almost daily, often working out the puzzles of the day. There is a synergy that translates from our team approach in our everyday lives to the way we lead our company, offering a cohesive vision and path forward for our people.

We look forward to carefully listening to your needs and providing your practice with the highest quality support services available to mental health professionals in our region.

Derek Crain, Co-Founder & CEO

Derek has leveraged his more than 30 years in the mental health field into a prolific career in leadership as the chief executive of Mindful, carving a new path forward in mental health care delivery. He spent the early years of his career in the trenches of residential behavioral health, hospital social work, and emergency rooms, where his clinical assessment skills and acute sense of how people think and work was truly honed. He then developed his skills as a therapist over the course of many years, focusing on mindfulness, addiction medicine, and helping his clients tune into their suffering. His passion for people has evolved into a successful career in leadership, as he has built and led Mindful Therapy Group from an idea and expansion of his own practice, to now helping over 2000 clinicians thrive in their own private practice, with the support and know-how of Mindful Therapy Group.

As CEO, Derek continues to dream big and set his sights way out into the horizon. He is a constant coach and spends much of his time focused in the areas of leadership and growth. He will pick up the phone at any time of day to call a team member and coach to a data point that needs tweaking, a message that needs finessing, or a pitch that isn’t landing. He consistently pushes his leaders to think more critically, listen to their intuition, and to communicate consistently and authentically.

Derek is an auditory learner and works in words. He can tune into the smallest of details, coach to a single adjustment, ultimately leading to big results. His growth mindset has led to tremendous success in sharing the Mindful model across multiple states, expanding access to mental healthcare to more of those who need it.
