Group Therapy

Group therapy is an effective form of therapy in which a small number of people meet with the support of a therapist to address a specific topic or area of concern. While each group differs in approach and goals, all groups aim to create a safe, supportive, and cohesive space.

Clients can engage in group therapy along with individual therapy as groups can provide benefits that individual therapy may not. Groups can act as a support network that allows participant gain insight from fellow group members and feel less alone in their struggles.

CBT for Psychosis

Do you suspect you have a mental health condition? Does the word psychosis illicit fear due to concerns of abnormalities? Reality check! Three out of one hundred people who experience psychosis at least one time during their lifetime, cited by Guvenek-Cokol(2022). The same author also noted individuals who seek programs to manage symptoms; some are diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder and learn how to manage the symptoms, and others have a nonpsychiatric mental illness (Guvenek-Cokol, 2022).
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis is a University of Washington curriculum to help community members with concerns about psychosis. Essentially, adults ages eighteen years of age and older explore the following:
• Is there a problem?
• What is the problem?
• What are potential solutions?
• What are the pros and cons of each solution?
• Which solution seems the best at this point?
• Do it!
Let’s embark on a pathway enriched with establishing safety while transparently discussing what’s wrong.

Building Castles

The purpose of this group is to help women on their journey to healing from developed anxiety and depression symptoms associated with domestic violence. A powerful way to battle these diagnoses and acknowledge trauma is to welcome vulnerability within a group of others who connect through similar experiences. Together we will help build a safe space to share raw and authentic emotions that come with being victimized. I will be using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to bring core beliefs to the surface and help you learn about your inner child. This will help build healthy coping strategies, promote self-worth, and create self-determination to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Life does not pause to acknowledge your hurt; we have to create that pause for ourselves.

Coping with Depression Group

The purpose of the group is to provide a community of people who are living with depression. It is for the depressed person rather than their loved one or caregiver. It is a safe place for people to be honest about their situation and its impact in their lives. It keeps people from feeling isolated, and helps them to feel cared about. It empowers people to face their depression and helps give validation that they are OK as a person despite their condition. It provides positive role models and encouragement that it is possible to get better. To remain in the group, people must agree to get professional help if the facilitator and the rest of the group think that they need a therapist. If their Doctor prescribes medication for depression, they must agree to take it, or to work with their doctor to find a more effective medication. If their Doctor or therapist thinks they need to be hospitalized for their depression, they must agree to do so.

The format helps us embody our Unitarian Universalist principles of respect for every individual and will intentionally allow the spiritual nature of the group to help in healing.

Facing the Shadows Workbook Group

If you’ve been feeling stuck in patterns of porn or sexual behavior that you want to change, I want you to know you’re not alone. I’ve been there myself, and I understand how heavy it can feel to carry that struggle in silence. Recovery doesn’t have to be something you go through by yourself — that’s what this group is here for. Together, we create a safe, confidential, and supportive space where we can talk openly, share honestly, and help each other grow toward a healthier sense of self and connection.

I bring both my professional training and my own experience in recovery to this work. I’ve been sober for over five years, and that journey has taught me the importance of compassion, patience, and community. I don’t see myself as an expert above anyone else here — I’m simply someone walking the same path alongside you, offering guidance, tools, and support as we all continue moving forward.

Whatever brought you here, I’m really glad you came. You don’t have to face this alone. This group is a place where you can be seen, accepted, and supported as you take your next steps toward healing and wholeness.
