Overview
As a licensed mental health counselor, I have a diverse background. I was born and raised in Japan until the age of 5, lived in rural Eastern WA until the age of 18, and attended undergraduate studies in Hawai'i. I returned to the mainland and lived in the SF Bay Area before pursuing my graduate studies in counseling in Western Washington.
Being a transnational/transracial adoptee, I offer a unique perspective on adoption. I specialize in working with the adoption triad and helping clients with identity and trauma issues. My personal experience of losing a friend to suicide prompted me to pursue counseling and focus on social services. Throughout my career, I have worked with various populations, including different ethnic and racial groups, all age groups, impoverished populations, single young parents, and individuals with disabilities. I have also volunteered as an English tutor, served on the MLK Planning Committee, and assisted at an animal shelter.
