Overview

Many of the clients I have worked with have struggled with general mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, and various other psychiatric problems, as well as addiction issues. A great deal of these problems stem from family or other relationship issues, or transitional issues such as loss of loved ones, loss of job, homelessness, and financial issues. Most recently in my career, I have worked with many elderly clients who have major medical issues, are dealing with end-of-life issues, or who find themselves alone, and needing a positive sounding board to listen to them and help improve their coping mechanisms.
In my career, I have found that prior to employing any one technique, it is extremely important to be a very good listener. It has been my experience that clients respond well when they are allowed to freely express themselves and feel as though they are being understood. I am eclectic, but often use Cognitive-Behavioral and Solution-Focused interventions.
