What Mindful Means for Minnesota

Minnesota 1

On July 16, Mindful Therapy Group opened its first office in Bloomington, Minnesota, marking our company’s official entry into the North Star State. We celebrated with a grand opening celebration and a Coffee with the Co-Founder gathering, inviting our providers, referral partners, and community members from across the area.

Minnesota, like much of the country, continues to face real barriers to mental health care. According to the Minnesota Hospital Association, more than 800,000 adults in the state live with a mental illness, and nearly 200,000 of them are not receiving the care they need. Behind those numbers are individuals navigating long waitlists, limited provider availability, and a complicated system.

Our Bloomington office is Mindful Therapy Group’s response. As with every new market Mindful enters, the goal isn’t simply to open doors: it’s to listen and build around the specific needs of the providers and communities here. That mission was reflected throughout both launch events, where Co-Founder and CEO Derek Crain and VP of Growth and Strategy Josh McGowan spoke with attendees about the challenges and opportunities facing behavioral health today, and how Mindful’s approach to expanding access aligns with the needs they’re already seeing across the state.

Our newest office includes 11 therapy offices designed to support both in-person and telehealth care, giving patients flexibility in how they seek treatment. We have three providers already seeing clients, with seven more currently onboarding.

We are proud to create spaces where clients can access quality care without friction and where independent providers can do their best clinical work without the administrative burden of billing, credentialing, and patient booking. That is the model Mindful Therapy Group has built in every market it serves, and it’s the model we’re excited to bring to Minnesota.
