Affordable Mental Health Care Without Insurance

Affordable Mental Health Care Without Insurance

Many people delay seeking therapy because of cost. Our Low-Cost Counseling Program was designed specifically to remove that barrier.

Program Costs
  • Initial appointment and Individual therapy sessions: $30
  • Late cancellation or missed appointment fee: $30*
  • Sliding scale options may be available for clients experiencing financial hardship Unlike many assistance programs, there are:
    • No insurance requirements
    • No income documentation
    • No financial application process
    • No session limits

If therapy feels financially out of reach, this program was created for you.

Good Faith Estimate

Good Faith Estimate

Because you are paying directly rather than through insurance, you have a right under federal law to a written estimate of what your care will cost. You will receive your Good Faith Estimate when you schedule your intake session.

*Only a small number of intern clinicians are available at any time, so appointments in this program are limited. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice or miss a session, you are charged the $30 session rate. Giving advance notice means the time can go to someone else who needs it.

Who Can Use the Low-Cost Counseling Program?

This program may be a good fit for adults who:

  • Live in Washington
  • Are age 18 or older
  • Do not have health insurance
  • Have insurance that does not adequately cover therapy
  • Are experiencing financial hardship
  • Want affordable counseling services for common mental health concerns
  • Can commit to regular therapy appointments

No proof of income is required. If the cost of therapy is preventing access to care, you may qualify.

Clients in the Low-Cost Counseling Program work with masters-level graduate students pursuing degrees in counseling, social work, or related mental health fields. Before seeing clients, these clinicians complete extensive graduate coursework in ethics, assessment, counseling techniques, and treatment planning.

Every clinician in the program receives:

  • Direct supervision from licensed professionals
  • Regular case consultation
  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • Support from licensed clinical leadership at Mindful Therapy Group

Many clients appreciate the attention and dedication intern clinicians bring to their work, as they often maintain smaller caseloads and spend significant time preparing for sessions.
