TRICARE Insurance Accepted

Mindful Therapy Group has therapists and nurse practitioners who accept TRICARE insurance.

Depending on your eligibility and plan, coverage may include:

  • TRICARE Prime
  • TRICARE Select
  • TRICARE Reserve Select
  • TRICARE Retired Reserve
  • TRICARE Young Adult
  • TRICARE For Life
  • US Family Health Plan (USFHP)

For patients in the TRICARE West Region, provider network administration is handled through TriWest Healthcare Alliance.

Understanding TRICARE and TriWest

Understanding TRICARE and TriWest

Many patients use the terms TRICARE and TriWest interchangeably, but they are not the same thing.

TRICARE is the health care program serving eligible active-duty service members, National Guard and Reserve members, retirees, veterans, and family members.

TriWest Healthcare Alliance is the regional contractor that administers the TRICARE West Region, including provider networks, referrals, authorizations, and beneficiary support.

If you live in one of the states Mindful Therapy Group serves, your TRICARE benefits may be administered through TriWest.

Which TRICARE Plan Do I Have?

TRICARE offers several health plans for military members, retirees, and their families. Understanding your plan can help you identify referral requirements, provider options, and potential out-of-pocket costs.

Not sure which plan you have? Our Intake Team can help verify your benefits and determine whether your selected Mindful Therapy Group provider participates with your coverage before scheduling.

TRICARE Prime

A managed care plan that typically uses a Primary Care Manager (PCM) to coordinate care. Prime often offers lower out-of-pocket costs but may have additional referral or authorization requirements for some services.

TRICARE Select

A self-managed plan that generally offers more flexibility in choosing providers. Many outpatient mental health services can be accessed without a referral when using TRICARE-authorized providers.

TRICARE Reserve Select

Available to eligible National Guard and Reserve members. This plan works similarly to TRICARE Select and provides flexibility in choosing providers while requiring monthly premiums.

TRICARE For Life

Coverage for eligible beneficiaries who have both Medicare Part A and Part B. Medicare generally pays first and TRICARE For Life acts as secondary coverage.

US Family Health Plan (USFHP)

A TRICARE Prime alternative available in select locations. USFHP operates through its own provider networks and healthcare systems, so provider participation may differ from standard TRICARE networks.

TriWest

TriWest is not a health insurance plan. TriWest Healthcare Alliance administers the TRICARE West Region network and helps manage provider access, referrals, authorizations, and beneficiary support services.

Understanding VA Community Care Network (CCN)

Military veteran talking with therapist

The VA Community Care Network (CCN) is a nationwide network of healthcare providers who deliver care to eligible Veterans on behalf of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Through CCN, Veterans can receive medical and behavioral health services from community providers when the VA cannot provide the needed care directly or when community care eligibility requirements are met.

Who Qualifies? Eligibility for community care is determined by the VA and may depend on factors such as availability of VA services, travel considerations, appointment wait times, and clinical needs. Veterans should work with their VA care team to determine eligibility and obtain authorization before scheduling care with a community provider.

Important to Know: VA Community Care Network coverage is different from TRICARE. While some providers participate in both programs, CCN is a VA healthcare benefit for eligible Veterans and always requires prior VA authorization to be seen with Mindful Therapy Group.

Questions about using VA CCN benefits? Contact your VA Care Coordinator to request an authorization with Mindful Therapy Group today.

Referral requirements can vary depending on your TRICARE plan, beneficiary status, and provider type.

Many outpatient mental health appointments do not require a referral, particularly for patients enrolled in TRICARE Select seeking care from authorized providers. Active-duty service members and some TRICARE Prime beneficiaries may have additional referral or authorization requirements.

If you’re unsure whether a referral is needed, our Intake Team can help you understand your benefits before scheduling.
