Overview
Welcome! My name is Susan Sakamoto, and I am a licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Washington. I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Washington. I’ve had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings providing therapeutic services to individuals, couples, families/parents and groups. My therapeutic style is compassionate and warm, yet direct, and humor is also a trademark of my therapeutic style. I view my work through a social justice lens while looking within the systems that impact your emotional health. My life experiences of working in the high stress corporate world, being a parent, and working through my own life struggles also guides and impacts my approach. My training and expertise lie in the application of evidenced based practices such as, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR).
