Overview

I grew up in Eastern Washington and have spent several years in Southwest Michigan. I am Mexican American and I was a first-generation college graduate. I graduated with a B.S in Psychology from Washington State University, a M.A in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Gonzaga University, and a Ph.D in Counselor Education from Western Michigan University. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with experience working with diverse youth, families, and college students.

My specialty population is youth and young adults of color. I have the honor and privilege to meet so many wonderful humans and witness their potential; Because of this, I treat each counseling session as sacred work. My approach is collaborative. I provide interventions and education based on cognitive-behavioral theory. This theory suggests that thoughts, feelings, and behaviors all influence each other. Different approaches are also used to match the client’s needs and culture.
