Overview

I was born and raised on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. As a Native Hawaiian, throughout my childhood, I absorbed influences from various cultures sparking my interest and profound respect for others and their cultures distinct from my own. Throughout my earlier years, people often acknowledged my skill as a 'good listener' and although my future profession remained uncertain, I was certain I wanted to help others.

After college, I enrolled in Seattle University to pursue a graduate degree in psychology and undergo training as a psychotherapist where I honed the skills to be fully present with others' experiences of suffering and distress, guiding them to uncover the meaning behind their pain to initiate the healing process through therapy. In 2004, I completed my master's in arts in Psychology from Seattle University. In 2007, I obtained my independent licensure as a mental health counselor in Washington.
